Xi'an

Xian is one of the oldest cities in the world with a vivid and rich history and culture. It is not only the birthplace of the Chinese Nation, but also the birthplace of human civilization in Asia and the cultural center of prehistoric civilization. As such, Xi'an has a wealth of historical sites and relics to visit and see and is a great place to introduce yourself to Chinese history. As capitals of 13 dynasties, Xian hosts numerous historical sites, from the impressive Terracotta Warriors, ancient City Wall, to magnificent Big Wild Goose Pagoda and world-renowned Huaqing Hot Spring. Xian is also the eastern start of glorious Silk Road, which makes this ancient city world-renowned. Walk along the peaceful street and stroll on the foot of city wall to get close to time-weathered history of this ancient city. Xian is also a culinary capital and has much to offer for gourmets, from the Pita Bread Soaked in Lamb Soup, Sheep Blood Soaked in Vermicelli Soup, Pork Sanwiched Between Pita Bread, to Cold Noodles and Qishan Noodles. Xian City Wall is located in the downtown of Xian, 12 meters in width, 18 meters in the bottom-width and 15 meters in top-width. Xian city is enclosed by walls in four directions, which protects this ancient city solemnly. The east wall stretches 2590 meters long, west wall, 2631.2 meters, south wall, 3441.6 meters, and north wall, 3241 meters, with 13.7 kilometers in circumference. There are four gates equipped into the wall, namely Changle gate in east, Anding gate in west, Yongning gate in south and Anyuan gate in north.


The Terracotta Warriors was discovered in 1974 by some local farmers in Lintong District, Xi'an, Shaanxi province when they were digging wells. There are three main square-shaped pits hosting these warriors, chariots and horses. According to the discovery, there are over 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses buried in these three pits. Standing in front of these figures, one can’t help being amazed not only by the ambition of Qin Shihuang but also the fabulous artistic skills of ancient Chinese artisans. It is a representative of funerary art in ancient China and these figures and horses were all buried with Qinshihuang, protecting the emperor after he died. Big Wild Goose Pagoda , is a Buddhist pagoda located in southern Xi'an, Shaanxi province, China. It was built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty and originally had five stories, although the structure was rebuilt in 704 during the reign of Empress Wu Zetian and its exterior brick facade renovated during the Ming Dynasty. One of the pagoda's many functions was to hold sutras and figurines of the Buddha that were brought to China from India by the Buddhist translator and traveller Xuanzang.With a height of 64.5 meters, the pagoda was built by the famous Buddhist master Xuanzang to reserve classic scriptures he bought from India in early Tang Dynasty.

Besides many historical attractions in Xian, Xian is also a culinary city with much palatable Xian food. The most famous Xian food ranges from Pita Bread Soaked in Lamb Soup, Sheep Blood Soaked in Vermicelli Soup, Pork Sandwiched Between Pita Bread, to Cold Noodles and Qishan Noodles.Unique Dumpling Banquet is also a famouse dish in  Xi'an.
