2017 Magnificent Silkroad Tour 14-Day

Day01 (Wed.) Arrival in Beijing

When arriving in Beijing, you will be greeted by our professional tour guide at Beijing Capital Airport and then transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day will be free for your own leisure, and you can choose other scenic spots to visit at your own expenses.

Day02 Beijing (B/L/SD)

After hotel breakfast, begin our wonderful city tour by visiting Forbidden City, which is the largest and the best-preserved imperial palace complex in the world. Then tour Tiananmen Square and outside view of the National Grand Theater. Afterwards, visit the Summer Palace, where we will enjoy a relaxing boat ride on Kunming Lake. Lastly, Stop by Tongrentang Chinese Medicine Institute, which had been designated to provide medicines for the royal pharmacy of the imperial palace of the Qing Dynasty for 188 years. Peking Duck Dinner will be served tonight.

 

Day03 Beijing (B/L/D)

Looking like a gigantic dragon across deserts, grasslands and mountains, the Great Wall of China is one of the 'Eight Wonders of the World'. We will tour the Juyongguan portion of the Great Wall in the morning, and stop by a Jade Workshop where we will learn some information about the precious jade. Afterwards, pay a visit to the Changling of the Ming Tombs. Lastly, drive by Olympic Village and have a photo stop at the Bird Nest & Water Cube.

Day04 Beijing--Xian (B/L/D)  by High-speed train (second-class seat)

After hotel breakfast, take high speed train to Xian, the ancient capital city for 11 dynasties in Chinese history. Visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. As the symbol of the old-line Xian, Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayan Pagoda) is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. Afterwards, proceed to visit Shaanxi History Museum, which has been regarded as “the pearl of ancient dynasties and house of Chinese treasures”. Then take an outside view of the Ancient City Wall.

Day05 Xian (B/L)

Visit the Terra-cotta Warriors& Horses, which are the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century, and pay a visit to the Terra-cotta Figure Workshop en route. Then tour the Qinshihuang Mausoleum. Transfer back to hotel rest of time free at leisure.

Day06 XianQJiayuguan (B/L/D)        by Air

Fly to Jiayuguan in the morning. It has a history over 630 years. Upon arrival, visit Jiayuguan Fort. Standing in the endless desert with rolling mountains as its backdrop, this isolated pass will take you back to the desolation and loneliness of frontier life in ancient times.

Day07 Jiayuguan-Dunhuang (B/L)

Transfer to Dunhuang. In ancient times, Dunhuang was the trade center between China and its western neighbors. Upon arrival, visit Dunhuang Museum. The Dunhuang Museum reflects the flourishing social development and cultural exchange between China and the West during the time when Dunhuang was a major center along the Silk Road.

Day08 Dunhuang (B/L/D)

Pay a visit to the famous Mogao Caves, where 492 surviving grottoes are lined with Buddhist carvings, and frescoes dating back to 366 AD. Afternoon, visit Mingsha Hill and the beautiful crescent pool in the Crescent Moon Spring.

 

Day09 Dunhuang-Turpan (B/L/D)       by High-speed train (second-class seat)

Take the bullet train to Turpan and visit Jiaohe Ruins, the largest and best-preserved earth construction in the world. Although 2,000 years have passed, the former glory of Jiaohe can still be found in these ruins. Enjoy the Uighur minority show tonight.

Day10 Turpan-Urumqi (B/L/D)

Visit Gaochang Ruins, The city was initially built as a garrison town in the first century B.C., and was a key point along the Silk Road. Continue to visit the ancient Karez irrigation system. Water flowing from the melting snows of the northern mountains, is supplied to Turpan by man-made underground channels or "karez". Transfer to Urumqi for overnight.

Day11 Urumqi (B/L/D)

In the morning, we will visit the new Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region Museum and stop by the Red Mountain for a panoramic view of the city. In the afternoon, we pay a visit to the Heavenly Lake on the top the Heavenly Mountain.

 

Day12 UrumqiQShenzhen (B)       by Air

Take morning flight to Shenzhen. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel, rest of the time free at leisure.

Day13 Shenzhen (B/L)

Visit Shenzhen Meridian View Centre to have a panoramic view of Shenzhen, learning the development history of Shenzhen and the relationship between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Later, pay a visit to Shenzhen Museum. Lastly, enjoy some free time shopping at Luohu Shopping Mall. Rest of the day free at leisure.

 

Day14 Shenzhen Departure (B)

Transfer to Shenzhen airport after breakfast for the homebound flight. Tour ends.
